VOCAL EXCURSIONS

MASS ---- This was written in honor of Therese of Lisieux. Composed masses can run on endlessly. As the story goes, an alter boy once stood up thinking the song was about over, but the priest sat him back down saying, "When they sing 'Amen' they don't really mean it." In this mass, each song is purposely short to keep the service to an hour.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom.
And the power and the glory.
Forever and ever.
Amen.

See the Children

Brm Bm ,,, Brm Bm
See the children's smiling faces,
for they know about the King.
All the world with them should sing,
"Alleluia!"
See the people cutting branches
decorating door and hall.
For the God who came to all.
Alleluia!
All of you people should gather round.
All of you nations should hear the sound.
And bend your head unto the ground.
Alleluia!
Brm Bm ,,, Brm Bm
See the people lighting candles
in remembrance of that day.
For He took our sins away.
Alleluia!
See the snow is slowly falling,
covering the dark with white.
Like the snow He brings new light.
Alleluia!
By God's hand we were raised from mud.
Then to wash us, it took a flood.
And for our souls, He gave His blood.
Alleluia! Amen!

Winter Promise

Lo ... Lo
Long time ago, the people were 'fraid.
A gloom of guilt had come to where they stood with all they had.
On drifting snow, light started to fade.
They thought the sun would go away for good and leave them bad. Oh
The darkening, darkening, darkening sky.
They hid in their homes, sacrifice burning high, to keep away evil and cold and death so their race would have time to get old. Ah
Further and further the sun went away.
Brought fear of a night that can win over day.
With danger above and below the people then knew they had nowhere to go.
where to go, where to go, where to go,
where to go, where to go, where to go Ah. Ah ... ah.
In little light, too young for old fear, a child had made an angel in the snow on holy ground.
And all that night, they thought they could hear the breath of God across the fields blow a strange new sound. OO Alle Alleluia
The morning, the morning had finally come.
The glow in the sky nearly too late for some.
By wind that had come to the earth, the angel returned to the snow of his birth. Ah
Higher and higher the sunrise unfurled.
The sacrificed angel was light of the world.
A promise no fear could destroy kept villages dancing and singing with Allelu, allelu, allelu
Allelu, allelu, allelu
Allelu, allelu, allelu
Allelu, allelu, alle luia!

Come to the Stable

Word in the wind, spirit moving in the mists above the world, in the beginning of time.
Lifting the sky from the mountains, sep'rating desert from the sea,
Sunrise from moon and a night of stars, night of stars, as a sign,
People waiting for something, some light for the way, waiting.
Centered in time, so the promise came to be fulfilled at last, Land of Judea prepare.
Humble beginnings, a child was born like a vision 'cross the sand
Only the weak and the poor of heart, poor of heart, gathered there.
Come, come, come to the stable. See hope wrapped in cloth, sleeping.
Born in a land where the Roman legions marched in armored line.
Sword and the spear ruled the day.
He grew in strength with his people, Teaching that love's a sacred sheild.
No fear of death with the sins of man cast away.
Kingdom, power and glory. Now, till end of time. Come. Come. Come.

Where is Christmas?

Where is Christmas?
The shops are all filled and ready.
The people are passing by and so is time and so is time.
When we were young, when we were very young, There was no need for reason or even rhyme.
Out in the snow it was such fun and in the after glow we'd run to the homes of open doors and waiting arms.
The merry tunes we would not fuss with future not too soon for us. All the presents 'round the tree, what fun it was.
It used to be.It used to be.
Christmas, christmas, christmas
Where is Christmas?
Again it has started snowing. The sun has begun to set. The days grow short, the days grow short.
When we were young, still young enough to see. The sparkling frost on windows did not distort.
We sang in the choir, life still was new. Later by the fire with you.
Flick'ring light it seemed so right as shadows played. Our dreams were wrapped and tied with strings, like some wondrous captured things. Yet they somehow seemed so free and peace was there.
It used to be. It used to be.
Where is Christmas?
The fire is slowly dying, And so are we, and so are we.
Not long ago, the children came no more. They saw what happened in you and me.
Recall the day, the magic spell with tinsel packed away too well. Didn't want it left around the room.
And then the fantasy was lost. We thought that we could stand the cost. Toys and games were put away too soon.
We need to go back while we can. Go back where it all began. A special child became a man. A part of an immortal plan.
Where is Christmas?
In the children. And one child that was born Christmas morn.
Ah Ah Ah

The Glad Noise

The bells in the steeple are ringing their ringalong singalong song.
And it tells passing people to join the merry throng.
The bells in the steeple are ringing their ringalong singalong song.
And it tells passing people to join the merry throng. (Bell imitations)
I hear children's laughter in snow drifts of yesterday and never gone.
For each year and thereafter the echo lingers on.
I hear children's laughter in snow drifts of yesterday and never gone.
For each year and thereafter the echo lingers on. (Children laughing)
The singing of choirs through stain glass of mem'ries shimmer now and then.
They are bringing the fires of hope alive again. (Carols sung)
Glad noises are bouncing as we come acaroling, caroling in, and with voices announce, "Let the holiday begin!"
The crackling of yule logs and icicles tumbling, tumbling down.
They're unpacking the schools, spreading kids all over town.
Bells in the steeple are ringing their ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ringalong song.

Alleluia

Alleluia ... Alleluia

Dreams

For years you were sleeping in dreams, quiet dreams, and drifted on the wings of butterflies in golden skies.
In mists carried on a breeze and time passing time, it was so peaceful then, no storm above or need for love.
But then something happened to you. What was it you thought you had dreamed? The light over the hill. A new day so it seemed.
We met. It was the dawn. Awake. The night is gone.
And there for a moment, the sun, yes, the sun, it seemed to burn so bright.
It rose too fast.
It couldn't last.
Because we're so far apart, your life and my life, it's growing dark again.
But please don't weep.
Go back to sleep.
