Chapter 0-Page 0
Evolution, as currently understood, hands us the last and most important science piece we need for Chapter Fifteen. Up to now, we've looked at the "dead" part of the universe from neutrinos to galaxies with mathematics too complicated to mention. Now we'll get into the living or almost living part of the universe.
While the math gets simple, the vocabulary does not. Biology, the study of life, has the goshawfullest words ever, made up of Greek and Latin. They might really slow us down, so we'll stick to everyday words in order to keep up a high reading-speed. However, you may click on the footnote-numbered words to see what the proper expression should be if you wish. (Conversely, the footnotes will help biologists keep up with us if they need the words in their own language.)
To pull together enough information for this chapter, we will use ideas from Vital Dust by Christian de Duve and What Evolution Is by Ernst Mayr. If you want more detail, these books can give it to you.
