The team had 1,001 people take the Cloninger test and compared the answers to their DNA. The first seven genes tested didn't show any connection, but they found an interesting variety in the VMAT2 gene. Those genes with a puzzle piece C scored higher than with an A piece (Chapter Thirteen) revealing a pattern.
To finish up, they also tested the gene against other personality traits: intelligence, friendliness, openness, etc, but they found no real pattern with any other trait. From the final statistics, Hamer concluded the gene was at least half the reason for a certain level of spirituality.
If this is true, a student of evolution might say, "Hey, wait a minute. An animal getting a long-neck gene may be able to get scarce food higher in the tree. It will survive, and any children having this same feature will also survive. Why did a god gene help us survive?" Nobody has the final answer yet, but with a spiritual gene:
Over the years, people have conducted tests see if praying does any good. Some showed evidence, and some didn't because the early tests were haphazard.
