4) Cells start specializing and joining into even bigger and better species.
5) Oxygen piles up in the atmosphere.
6) Land dries up.
7) Climates change. Slower thinkers die out.
8) Humans take over.
The ability to adapt makes these creatures the best bet for advancement.
