  1. Time runs forward. We have some evidence time can be all at once or running backwards (or sideways?), but TTOMTE isn't affected. The description becomes too complicated if we allow time to flow every-which way. Besides, how does cause and effect work if time can change directions?
  2. The measurable universe has existed forever or at least far longer than fifteen billion years. Nature has plenty of time to do some marvelous things.

TTOMTE appears to have many assumptions, but every other scientific theory must have the first five too, so they don't really count. We just need to make sure we agree on those five before we go any further. We only mention the sixth one because of the number of people who still hold onto the idea of a Big Bang. Hopefully, Chapters Nine and Eleven have already convinced you the universe has been around longer than fifteen billion years eliminating number six as an assumption too.

With no obvious assumptions so far, we begin our tale.

THE BEGINNING OF UNIVERSAL EVOLUTION

Since we're saying something always exists anywhere, we'll try to stick to the following definitions:

"nothing" --- the simplest form of something; we have no way of measuring it.

something --- a more complex form than "nothing," but we still have no way of measuring it; it's a form somewhere between "nothing" and matter.

matter --- what we can measure in the form of protons, electrons, atoms, photons (energy), fields, and so on.
